Together again at Bentall Centre’s animated outdoor plazas, retail concourse and office towers.

Our plaza revitalization project brings inviting and thoughtfully designed public spaces to the downtown core. We partnered with landscape architecture firm Hapa Collaborative for the project to transform areas like the newly-unveiled Dunsmuir Patio, a sun-soaked outdoor plaza that pays homage to Bentall Centre’s original plaza fountain through a multi-level wave deck design. Dunsmuir Patio showcases natural elements such as cedar decking and expanded native foliage and is activated with five LED canopy umbrellas or “Parasols,” developed by Tangible Interaction. The Parasols illuminate in the evening, creating a unique ambiance and a photo op in the heart of downtown.

In addition, Bentall Centre’s Burrard Benches outdoor area features expanded seating and greenery surrounding the revitalized copper “Fountain of the Pioneers” created by George Tsutakawa in 1969. Community programming such as beer and wine gardens, live musicians and dancers, art installations and other special events activate these plazas year-round. Stop by the iconic downtown landmark as it’s transformed into a vibrant and modern destination designed for both tenants and the general public to enjoy. No matter the time of year, Bentall Centre’s outdoor plazas are a must-visit destination in Vancouver.
