Celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop
Deep From the Underground is a music event that celebrates the cultural movements of these genres through dance, live art, DJ’ing and performance. Historically, DFTU ran as a Friday weekly club night at the Biltmore Cabaret from January-March 2020 prior to the Quarandream (Covid-19 Lockdown). It has since then re-emerged as part of the VMF After Dark after party series since summer of 2022.
By paying homage to the various influences that contributed to the culture, this event will include a music performance, a DJ crew-vs-crew battle, live painting, live poetry typewriting, video DJ’ing and more, from artists spanning from Jamaica, Edmonton, Toronto, South Africa and Vancity.
Curated by: Shape Shifter Studio x AfroGSiac
