Timeline by Georgie Lawson

On Thursday, August 21, from 4 PM to 7 PM, Bentall Centre Lobby Gallery presents Timeline, a new photography exhibition by Georgie Lawson, a local fashion and community photographer from the Gitxsan First Nation. Lawson studied photography at Capilano University and Emily Carr University of Art and Design, developing a practice that blends fine art sensibility with documentary depth.

His work is shaped by travels home to Gitsegukla and other communities along the Skeena River, where he has cultivated a passionate interest in visual storytelling and a deep relationship with the power of portraiture. This connection to place and people informs his approach to fashion photography, infusing each image with authenticity and narrative weight.

Lawson’s career includes collaborations with the Museum of Natural History in New York and campaigns for Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week. In Timeline, he explores identity, community, and transformation through a series of striking portraits and evocative images that bridge traditional and contemporary visual languages.
